Los Angeles City Council gives Unanimous Support to Three Strikes Reform
17 Members of FACTS testify before the Council -6/8/2007

After almost 1 & ½ years of requesting their support, members Of the L. A., Orange County, El Monte Chapters of FACTS addressed the Los Angeles City Council today on a resolution introduced by Councilwoman Jan Perry, and co-sponsored by Councilpersons Bill Rosendahl and Herb Wesson advocating Three Strikes reform.

Council members were presented with a recently completed Public Opinion Poll showing nearly three-to-one support for a measure to reform the Three Strikes Law. After a lively debate with councilpersons Rosendahl, Perry, Wesson, Reyes and Alarcon speaking in support, the Council passed the measure with a resounding YES vote.

Other FACTS chapters in the county will approach their city councils for support and finally, we will go to the L.A. County Board of Supervisors for their support.

None disagrees that the money being spent to build prisons and house nonviolent offenders would be far better spent keeping folks out of prison and providing everyone with the opportunity to receive a good education, a decent job, housing & quality health care.

Morality, decency, humanity and common sense are on our side. Good work FACTS!
